Curtis Mayfield has figured prominently in soul music for over four decades now. The creative force behind The Impressions, Mayfield was responsible for great songs such as 'People Get Ready', 'I'm So Proud', 'It's All Right' and 'Keep On Pushing'. In 1970 Mayfield went solo and released a number of superlative and influential records including Roots, Back To The World and the legendary Superfly soundtrack, represented here by the smash hit 'Freddie's Dead'.
This concert film from 1988 captures the full power of one of the giants of black American music in performance and, as a bonus, also includes an interview Mayfield gave at the time to life-long fan Paul Weller, founder and lead singer of the British band The Jam.
