This DVD was recorded on January 27, 1981 in Edmonton, Alberta at Jubilee Auditorium. It captures Ray Charles at his finest as a live performer, and includes most of his recognizable performances.
One of the most distinguished voices of soul and R&B, Ray Charles was an American icon who recorded from the 1950’s until his untimely death earlier this year. An eclectic performer, he explored soul, R&B, country, and pop music over the course of his six-decade career. Blind since the age of six due to glaucoma, Charles studied many different instruments in school, and by the time he was 17, had made it to Seattle, where his recording career began. “Georgia On My Mind”, “Hit The Road Jack”, and “America The Beautiful” are among his most recognizable recordings, with the latter being one of the most recognizable performances of the patriotic song. |
