Less than underscoring D:A:D's admirable songwriting chops during this, the first decade of their career, the cheekily titled Good Clean Family Entertainment You Can Trust -- Milestone Material 85-95 winds up revealing their stylistic inconsistency from record to record. While this certainly speaks volumes about the Danish cowpunkers' versatility, it's hardly the stuff that long-lasting careers -- much less loyal fan bases -- are made of. Regardless, for those looking to get a broad sampling of D:A:D's output instead of a maximum shot of inspiration, the 15 tracks collected here will do just fine. Although these are mostly culled from the band's three best-known international releases of the late '80s and early '90s, special (and welcome) emphasis is placed on the stellar No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims album (five cuts in all) and its classic "Sleeping My Day Away." As for the group's initial lesser-known European-only releases, choice nuggets from this era include the Cramps-ish "Marlboro Man" and the triple live threat of "I Won't Cut My Hair," "Riding With Sue," and "It's After Dark." ---Ed Rivadavia, allmusic
