An exciting summit meeting of Jazz Rock pioneers Chick Corea (piano) and Gary Burton (vibraphone) in Munich 1997: Two perfectly matched partners who are still able to surprise us, no matter how often we hear them. In this concert their improvisations seem even more inspired then in their successful studio recordings.
Chick Corea and Gary Burton, both hugely influential figures in the world of jazz and pioneers of Jazz-Rock, first recorded together in 1978 resulting in the album Crystal Silence. Almost 20 years later they renewed this fruitful collaboration at the Munich Philharmonie to a rapturous response, a concert captured on this DVD.
The longterm partnership formed by these two outstanding musicians has also produced two Grammy-winning albums in recent years, 1998's Like Minds, and 1997's Native Sense, which first brought Corea into contact with the marimba. He now performs on this instrument regularly. Both artists have also collaborated extensively with other artists. Corea was a favoured duo partner for Friedrich Gulda, Herbie Hancock and Bobby McFerrin, while Burton has demonstrated his duet skills playing with amongst others Steve Swallow, Ralph Towner and Makoto Ozone
