Just how the band has perfected its live performance around Jean-Paul Bluey Maunick, the Mauritius-born singer and sound pioneer, was demonstrated by this magnificent performance. Recorded live at the Java Jazz Festival, Jakarta 2008, the audience was immediately drawn into the non-stop stream of ideas and sophisticated variations, the interplay of sounds from such a variety of instruments and the vivid flow of the rhythm. Poignant soul ballads follow funky dynamic numbers and gospel ecstasy shifts into a relaxed party atmosphere. The artists gave their all for the versatile sound of the group. In return, they take it in turns to shine when performing their solos - from the vocalists to the horns, from the bass player to the drums. This music embodies the very best of jazz and soul.
