The great clarinet virtuoso and bandleader Buddy DeFranco is one of the most interesting artists in jazz history, as he combined an instrument and style that seemed not to fit each other. Among other things, DeFranco was most widely known for his technical excellence on his instrument. From a technical standpoint, there is nothing that DeFranco cannot play. Through consistent study and practice, he has achieved a level of true creativity as an artist. Aside from the technical mastery of his instrument he is also a very resourceful and creative improviser. |
