At the AVID Essentials HQ we have decided it's time to be Frank again! Sinatra that is, and so we have collected together three classic albums and a bunch of singles from the great man's Capitol years.
By 1952 Sinatra's career had hit an all time low after the incredible success he had enjoyed during the bobby- sox years of the forties where he was the first teenage pop idol. Now in his early forties, Sinatra was searching for a direction in which to take his stalled career. How he found it has become one of the great showbiz comeback stories of all time. Starting off in style he won the Best Supporting actor Oscar for his powerful portrayal of Private Maggio in the classic movie From Here To Eternity in 1953. Signing to Capitol in the same year, Sinatra went on to make some of the best music of his career over the course of nine years with the company. Working with such arrangers as Nelson Riddle and Billy May, Sinatra re-wrote the manual on how to sing the American songbook.
This superb double CD in the AVID Essential series features three classic albums from this golden period, Songs For Young Lovers, Swing Easy and the immortal Songs For Swinging Lovers plus all the extra tracks featured on the 12" vinyl versions, plus for good measure a collection of singles released between 1953-1955.
