Bonus tracks from Humphrey Lyttelton and his Band featuring Humph with Bruce Turner - John Barnes - Pete Strange - Mick Payne - Paul Bridge - Adrian Macintosh
Tracks 1 to 10 The Bruce Turner Quartet, Tracks 11 to 13 Humphrey Lyttelton and his band
The first 10 tracks you will hear are from Bruce's only album under his own name in later years and it's a joy, with a handpicked line-up. The bonus numbers are from a session Humph's band recorded live at the ever-popular Bull's Head, Barnes, in the preceding year. Caribana Queen reflects Humph's liking for West Indian themes and features him alongside Bruce and John Barnes on clarinet. The perennial High Society, with fluent clarinet, and Three Little Words, showcasing his sinuous alto in full creative flight, illustrate perfectly what Bruce, always an eloquent writer on jazz felt about the continuum from Picou to Parker. - Mike Pointon
