Jazz
The expression Traditional Jazz is not based in having played traditional titles, but in the fact that the band used to play with the traditional casting, as it was usual in New Orleans. The Danish Arne Bue Jensen, alias Papa Bue founded his formation Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband in 1956. Together with his group he was a cash magnet in the 1960ies all over Europe, especially in Germany for a lot of in German interpreted songs (which are not contained in this set!).

Leader of the Viking Jazz Band beginning in 1956, Papa Bue Jensen is an excellent dixieland trombonist who has been active for decades in Denmark. He had recorded with Chris Barber before forming his group (which, during 1956-1958, was known simply as the New Orleans Jazz Band). Through the years, the band has recorded (sometimes for Storyville or Timeless) with such American guests as George Lewis, Wingy Manone, Wild Bill Davison, Edmond Hall, Champion Jack Dupree, Albert Nicholas, and Art Hodes. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |
