Papa Bue’s Viking Jazzband have been entertaining people worldwide for fifty years and are still going strong. Storyville is proud to release a 3 CD box set with a selection of the best of Papa Bue throughout the years. The band will during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival perform several venues in Copenhagen. The climax will be the 50th year anniversary concert at Tivolis Koncertsal on September 28. There will be many surprises at the concert.

Leader of the Viking Jazz Band beginning in 1956, Papa Bue Jensen is an excellent dixieland trombonist who has been active for decades in Denmark. He had recorded with Chris Barber before forming his group (which, during 1956-1958, was known simply as the New Orleans Jazz Band). Through the years, the band has recorded (sometimes for Storyville or Timeless) with such American guests as George Lewis, Wingy Manone, Wild Bill Davison, Edmond Hall, Champion Jack Dupree, Albert Nicholas, and Art Hodes. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |
