Although ACKER BILK and his Paramount Jazz Band are internationally famous for the live jazz music, Acker Bilk records very much with String orchestras. We keep receiving numerous requests pleading for up-to-date jazz Albums. Therefore, it was indeed a pleasure when Wim Wigt, our promoter for Holland asked if Acker Bilk and the Boys would record a double jazz LP for him.
Well, here it is, and we hope you all enjoy it, as it took a solid seven non-stop hours to record, right in the middle of a tour in Holland, Germany and Luxemburg. Seven hours of hard work, but also a great deal of fun. After being their manager and agent for over seven years, and working with Acker for over thirteen, I can certainly say this band must be one of the happiest and hard-working, and seems to get better and better as time goes bye, as I think this LP shows.
All the band have been with Ack a long time - Tucker nearly nineteen years - Campbell, Our newest member - he joined Acker in September 1980 right in the middle of an Australian tour - hadn't yet recorded with The Paramount Jazz Band, so this is his first "ABPJB"LP. And now on CD !!!
