All compositions by Klaus Ignatzek.
Klaus Ignatzek, one of the leading German Jazz pianists and composers, belongs to a circle of remarkably talented interpreters who look both optimistically to the future as well as coping with the past with a view related to the present. He recorded 15 albums as a leader with Dave Liebman, Bobby Watson and Claudio Roditi. He toured with his different groups all over Europe, starred in numerous radio and television productions. Since 1985 he has been lecturing on the theory of Jazz and piano at the University of Oldenburg. He earned a name for himself as a composer of exciting themes modelled on the bizarre methodogy of the Bebop and Hardbop era, as a sensitive creator of subtly differentiated atmospheric pictures and as a calculating tactician who commands a wide range of attractive alternative pieces. This is prooved on over 70 compositions on records. Claudio Roditi, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, is living in New York City since 1976. He is one of the world best trumpet players, who knows to enthuse the audience through his souly and groovy way of playing. He worked with Herbie Mann, Slide Hampton, Charlie Rouse amongst others. Since 1983 he is a member of Paquito d'Rivera group. Many recording sessions with this band and also as a leader impressively demonstrate the outstanding abilities of Claudio Roditi. The only 21 years old Austrian drummer Mario Gonzi is already considered one of the greatest European talents for a long time. He worked with Charlie Ratzer, Art Farmer, Benny Bailey, ORF-Big Band. Paulo Cardoso, born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, bass, is well-known for his 'groovy' playing and for his excellent time feel. Played with Benny Bailey, Al Cohn, Lee Konitz amongst others. Concerts and festivals as well as national and international broadcast productions made the Klaus Ignatzek Group an experienced and well balanced band, which already had developed an unmistakeable and independent style. |
