Interstellar Jazz EPIC from Sun Ra and His Mythic Science Arkestra; a previously unreleased and highly sought after documentation of a live performance at Le Theatre Du Chftelet in Paris form 1971. The LP features three tracks included on the extensive CD with sleeve notes from Arkestra member Knoel Scott and unpublished photos from the concert by Jorg Becker. We get sumptuously groovy versions of Sun-Ra standards 'Space Is The Place' and the hypnotic Astro-Afro special 'Somebody Else's Idea', backed with the immense cavalcade of crowd pleaser 'Watusi', a mindblowing and joyous explosion of polyrhythmic ecstasy with a dazzling array of contrapuntal melody and rhythm form the Arkestra designed to drive their dancers, June Tyson, Efay Tayo, and Hazoume into feats of contortionist abandon. |
