The second reissue from SoulMusic.com Records (following the April 2011 reissue of MARCHING IN THESTREET, SMCR 5015) by star drummer, producer and songwriter Harvey Mason. Groovin You signals the start of a new series of classic jazz/funk albums from SoulMusic.com Records.
Originally released in 1979, Groovin You (produced by Harvey and co-produced by his brother, trumpet player Kenny Mason) was Harvey’s fourth album for Arista Records and his second highest-charted LP. Harvey Mason is considered one of the star players in the world of funk and jazz, playing on recordings by artists such as Herbie Hancock, Carole King, Donald Byrd, James Brown and Beyonce.
The LP boasts an all-star cast of musicians including Wah- Wah Watson, Lee Ritenour, Richard Tee, Eric Gale, David Spinozza, Phil Upchurch, Jay Graydon, Bob James, Ray Parker Jr. and David Foster and includes a cover of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s Wave.
The funky title track was Harvey’s first dance music hit single and is included on this expanded edition along with the 12 single released in both the U.S. and U.K. |
