The first ever DVD to feature one of the great New-Wave acts of the early 1980's - The Waitresses.

Ohio composer/guitarist Chris Butler formed the band and Patty Donahue gave the group its voice. The Waitresses grew into a well-known New York-based sextet churning out funky pop tunes spiked with a few twists.

They were best known for their song "I Know What Boys Like", featured on countless new wave compilation albums, an episode of The Simpsons, as well as an episode of Family Guy. It was covered in 1995 by British girl band Shampoo, reaching number 42 in the UK charts. Their American "I Could Rule the World" EP also contains a US TV sitcom theme ("Square Pegs") and a wonderful Yuletide rap track ("Christmas Wrapping" - since covered by The Donnas, Kate Nash, and the Spice Girls).

The band recorded two LP's - "Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful" and "Bruiseology" - but internal friction led to them splitting shortly after the release of the second long player. However, their legacy has only grown with time leading to Polydor releasing a best of collection in 2003.

"Live At Hurrah" features a superbly gritty and angular live show from the band filmed in New York during their early 1980's peak. Bonus footage features material from an alternative Hurrah show and an informed audio commentary from founder member Chris Butler.

This release captures a 1980 performance by The Waitresses. This high-energy New York show features performances of over a dozen songs including their signature hit "I Know What Boys Like," as well as "Jimmy Tomorrow," "Wise Up," "Hump Day," and "Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful?"
