First formed in a blaze in 1983, and scoring 3 Top Twenty singles in their first year, The Style Council, comprising Permanent members Paul Weller, Mick Talbot, Dee C Lee and Steve White, supported by others – did much to silence critics of Weller's decision to split The Jam. That said, the original video for Long Hot Summer did manage to confuse and mystify many ardent fans.
Their subsequent progress through 1984 to 1989 saw a more diverse style of music and song writing with hits becoming more sporadic, mainly whilst Paul exercised his political views more vocally through music. Nevertheless they were constantly in the Top Forty during this period despite a changing line-up and direction. This DVD shows the band at their absolute best, and was shot in 1984 on a Japanese tour with a pack of dynamite hits already under their belt. |
