Fronted by Pauline Black, the seven-piece Selecter were unique in marrying female vocals with infectious ska rhythms. The Coventry-based band were in the vanguard of the 2-Tone craze that shook up the post-punk music scene and set it dancing: this Rockstage performance, filmed at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal in summer 1980, catches their original and best line-up delivering signature tracks like ‘Too Much Pressure’, ‘On My Radio’ and an energetic rendition of the ‘James Bond Theme’. |
