The bands biggest worldwide hit was Hitchin A Ride in 1970, which reached No. 16 in the UK and No. 5 in the USA, where it sold a million copies alone. Their biggest British smash was another million seller, Early In The Morning, which peaked at No. 8 here (and No. 12 in America). Named after their debut UK hit from 1968, I Live For The Sun is the most comprehensive collection of Vanity Fare recordings to date, kicking off with two rare pre-Vanity Fare recordings by The Sages from 1966 and offering some rare bonus tracks by later line-ups and a solo spin-off, too, by Trevor Brice, as well as some B-sides new to CD. I Live For The Sun boasts everything that Vanity Fare recorded for labels such as Larry Pages Page One imprint, including their collectable debut LP, The Sun The Wind And Other Things (1968) and Early In The Morning (1970). Various members of Vanity Fare have been involved with this new anthology, including original vocalist Trevor Brice and current bassist Bernie Hagley. A line-up of Vanity Fare is still active to this day. |
