Universally hailed as the King of the Blues, the legendary B.B. King’s nearly seven-decade career came to a close when he passed away in Las Vegas, on May 14, 2015. One of the most imitated of all the blues giants, King projected tremendous presence on stage, both singing and playing guitar. His musical influence around the world remains incalcubale. This essential collector’s edition includes one of King’s lesser-known gems from his most inspired years, the wonderful Mr. Blues. The dozen-song lp was a great breakthrough for King on the ABC-Paramount label (after his tenure on the Bihari brothers’ Modern/Kent Records) with the contents taken from three different recording sessions. Long unavailable on CD, this blues masterpiece has been remastered on this very special edition, which also contains 12 bonus tracks from the same period. All of these fabulous songs provide a solid and revealing portrait of B.B. King’s versatility as well as his rightful place in the blues pantheon. B.B. KING, vocals and guitar, plus: Maxwell Davis(tenor saxophone), Jewell Grant, William Green(alto saxophone), Floyd Turnham(bartitone saxophone), Lloyd Glenn(piano), Ralph Hamilton(bass), Jesse Sailes(drums), among others. Further personnel information is detailed inside. Arranged by Teacho Wiltshire, Belford Hendricks or Maxwell Davis. Original recordings produced by Sid Feller and Clyde Otis. Recorded in 1962, in Los Angeles and New York, USA. |
