Marvin Hamlisch The Spy Who Loved Me: Original Motion Picture Score on 180g LP.
Newly-Reissued on Vinyl Right in Time for 2015’s Spectre! For 50 plus years, a significant part of the excitement leading up to each new James Bond adventure in espionage has been the reveal of each film’s theme song and its recording artist. Many of music’s top stars have been honored to write and record new songs for 007, to see and hear their music brought to life in the films’ sultry opening credits and reprised in score pieces within the film.
Many Bond themes have been major hits around the world including Dame Shirley Bassey’s sensual “Goldfinger,” Tom Jones’ dramatic “Thunderball,” Paul McCartney and Wings’ soaring “Live And Let Die,” Carly Simon’s erotically charged “Nobody Does It Better,” Sheena Easton’s sultry “For Your Eyes Only,” and Duran Duran’s new wave belter “A View To A Kill” among many more!
1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me served as the tenth film in the legendary franchise and finds composer Marvin Hamlisch filling in for soundtrack go to guy John Barry. One of only two Bond soundtracks to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score, the 11-track set is home to the smash hit theme song “Nobody Does It Better” by Carly Simon, the first theme song in the series with a different title than that of the film. |
