This release presents the Modern Jazz Quartet’s classic eponymous album "The Modern Jazz Quartet" (Atlantic LP1265) in its entirety. A rare and long out of print live performance at Birdland by the same group, taped the previous year and including versions of two songs from the album (“Bags’ Groove” and “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”) has been added here as a bonus.
