The companion volume to the similarly titled first volume, HER CLASSIC SONGS VOLUME TWO is no collection of also-rans. Few teams have had a winning streak like that of Warwick and the songwriting/production duo of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and the ten tracks here, are among the very strongest pop songs of their era. "I Say A Little Prayer," "Do You Know the Way To San Jose," "This Girl's In Love With You," and "Close To You" have been covered by many but Warwick almost invariably did them first and usually definitively. Frankly, both volumes could fit on one CD with room to spare, but you should be able to find them both for less than the price of the average single CD. |
