The dynamic James Brown was the indefatigable forefather of soul, funk and rap, as well as a performer like no other. Through the gospel-impassioned fury of his vocals and the complex polyrhythms of his beats, he became one of the most important figures in the transformation of Rhythm & Blues into soul music.
This CD includes a selection of Mr. Dynamite’s (as Brown was also called) most essential tracks from the peak of his career. The original recordings presented here have been brilliantly remastered to achieve the best possible sound quality. This is a good starting point to explore James Brown’s legendary discography, which also marks one of the most important building blocks of African- American music.
