This set compiles both original albums recorded by the great Oscar Peterson celebrating the music of Duke Ellington. He recorded the first in Mono in 1952 with his trio featuring Barney Kessel on guitar, and Ray Brown on bass (Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington, Clef Records MGC-606), and remade exactly the same twelve tunes in Stereo in 1959 (Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington Song Book, Verve MGC-2055) featuring Brown again on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums.
