This release includes all of the existing music from the sessions that produced three original albums by the great Dexter Gordon. Recorded in 1961-62, these LPs consist of Doin' Alright (Blue Note BST84077), Dexter Calling (Blue Note BST84083), and Landslide (Blue Note LT-1051). Among the featured sideman are such stars as Freddie Hubbard, Horace Parlan, Kenny Drew, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, Ron Carter and Phil Joe Jones. A single track from the same period showcasing Gordon in the company of fellow saxophonist Sonny Stitt has been added here as a bonus. |
