Recorded At Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey Drums – Elvin Jones Guitar – Grant Green Organ – Larry Young Producer – Alfred Lion Recorded By [Recording By] – Rudy Van Gelder
Recorded on September 11, 1964. 8 page cover-booklet includes liner-notes in Japanese by Takao Ogawa, with original LP notes reproduced on the back page.
The incredible trio of guitarist Green, organist Larry Young and drummer Elvin Jones made a number of excellent Blue Note albums with a fourth soloist (Hank Mobley or Sam Rivers or Bobby Hutcherson added). But on this, their first and finest session, they are free develop their amazing intuition and empathy without limit. Young's originals "Talkin' About J.C." (for John Coltrane) and "Luny Tune" are especially stunning. Incredibly, this is the first CD appearance of this Grant Green classic. |
