Norman Granz, who supervised all of the recordings on this disc, wrote that he knew "no other musician whose playing better depicts and typifies the spirit of jazz than Roy Eldridge," and indeed Little Jazz was all jazz from top to toe, the whole feisty five feet six inches of him.
