Jazz / Dixieland Revival
Recorded: New York, New York in 1956
These recordings, produced by John Hammond, were originally released on a series of discs. For the sessions, Hammond placed the two fine players in a simple setting; the outcome is excellent. Braff's New Orleans-style cornet playing is well-suited to Larkins' stride piano. The result is some wonderful music, particularly on standards like "Pocket Full of Dreams" and "I Could Write a Book." ---Tim Sheridan, allmusic
