Atlantis, in addition to The Magic City, is known as one of Sun Ra's "epic" works. On this album, Sun Ra plays wild and dark organ music that reflected and further influenced the trends in rock music at the time of the recording (1967). It is this album in particular that endeared Sun Ra to the legions of rock fans and influenced such artists as Sonic Youth and George Clinton. |
