Jazz / R&B
After more than a dozen years spent with Ramsey Lewis' rhythm section, bassist Eldee Young and drummer Isaac "Redd" Holt left to form their own group in the mid-'60s. Together, they cut a soul-jazz groove that was a popular favorite with both live audiences and on records. The second album on this compact disc is a 1961 Atlantic recording by The Slide Hampton Octet, featuring Charlie Greenlee on trombone and baritone horn.
