Formed in 1966, the Art Ensemble of Chicago continues to be one of the most influential groups on jazz's progressive wing. Its motto - "Great Black Music, Ancient to the Future!" - is also its far-reaching programme. Roscoe Mitchell , Famoudou Don Moye and Malachi Favors Maghostus selected Art Ensemble compositions for this anthology - "We have enjoyed many great musical experiences with ECM" - adding also related material by Mitchell's prize-winning Note Factory band and by the late, great Lester Bowie. |
