Singer Rufus Wainwright pays a touching tribute to Judy Garland on this concert recording. Wainwright decided to perform an exact replica of Garland's 1961 show at Carnegie Hall, reproducing the same set list and executing each number in his own unique style--and he even returned to the original venue to execute this daring feat. Classic tunes such as "Over the Rainbow," "When You're Smiling," and "Come Rain or Shine," are performed, and Wainwright is backed by an impressive 36-piece orchestra throughout. |
