The music on this recording is consistently excellent with the moody "Spiritual" (which features Coltrane's soprano and Eric Dolphy's bass clarinet) living up to its title. 'Trane jams spiritedly on a beboppish "Softly as in a Morning Sunrise" and roars on a marathon tenor solo during "Chasin' the Trane."
