This intriguing set ranges from likable if lightweight funk grooves to solo piano pieces that show off Kevin Toney's roots in classical music. Toney is very skilled at caressing melodies, and he is the only person on this CD to really display his own musical personality. The group pieces could be more original, but the solo numbers make this a set of interest to those who enjoy both funky jazz and touches of classical music.
