Bill Evans and his longtime bassist Eddie Gomez developed empathy so profound that the music in their previous duo album seemed a living definition of its title, Intuition. Building upon and following Intuition's success came Montreux III, with an adoring audience at the celebrated Swiss festival inspiring a remarkable level of performance. The concert in the summer of 1975 included some of Evans's favorite pieces, among them a powerful version of John Lewis's "Django." It was also the occasion for the introduction into his repertoire of "Minha (All Mine)," a Brazilian song of great beauty and sadness.
