Ray Charles was one of the true pioneers of soul music. He played the Montreux Jazz Festival on a number of occasions but probably his finest concert there was this one from 1997. Supported by his orchestra, under the direction of Al Jackson, and of course the wonderful Raelettes, he delivers magical performances of many of his popular tracks including "Shadows Of My Mind", "Georgia On My Mind", "What'd I Say" and "I Can't Stop Loving You". As ever, Ray Charles is the definition of Soul. |
