These 39 tracks were selected from 32 different albums by Green, John Patton, Lou Donaldson, Ike Quebec, Larry Young and others. They feature this extraordinary guitarist at his peak (1960-66). The first two discs concentrate on his organ dates which feature Baby Face Willette, Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, John Patton and Larry Young as well as a legion of soulful saxophonists from Lou Donaldson to Harold Vick to Hank Mobley. The third CD is culled from his most dazzling quartet performances with rhythm sections anchored by such outstanding pianists as Herbie Hancock, Sonny Clark and McCoy Tyner. Disc Four features great hard bop sessions with such musicians as Quebec, Mobley, Stanley Turrentine, Booker Ervin, Joe Hendeson, Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan, Bobby Hutcherson and Horace Parlan. The cumulative impact of hearing one crown jewel after another is a powerful tribute to this great guitarist. The music is beautifully remastered from the original analog masters in 24-bit. The 4 CD Set includes a 32 Page booklet with an essay by Bob Blumenthal and more than a dozen photographs from the original sessions by Francis Wolff.
