The complete Steve Lacy album Evidence , which was his fourth LP as a leader. It presents him in a pianoless quartet with Don Cherry on trumpet, Carl Brown on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums. Also included is Lacy’s album Reflections (New Jazz 8206), featuring him in another quartet, this time with Mal Waldron on piano, Buell Neidlinger on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums.
All throughout this CD, the repertoire consists exclusively of compositions by Lacy’s admired Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington.
