Friday, October 29, 1954 found Roy Eldridge and Dizzy Gillespie balanced neatly between youthful exuberance and the broader perspectives of maturity. Rivals at first, they'd become - remained - good friends. Putting the two of them together in a recording studio was a logical enough idea, especially since the long-playing record had done away with the old 78 RPM time restrictions. Now this entire historic session is on CD for the first time. session
