Produced by legendary Jazz Trombonist Wayne Henderson of the famed Jazz Crusaders/Crusaders ensemble, Soul Axess brings an innovative and refreshing perspective to Classic & Contemporary Jazz. All 14 songs (10 originals and 4 covers) feature bursts of eclectic harmonic fusion. Henderson's evocative lyrics are complimented further with stellar guest performances from prominent Jazz legends such as Roy Ayers, Jean Carne, Wilton Felder, Everette Harp, Phillip Ingram, Nathan East, Ronnie Laws and Bobby Lyle. Notable tracks include Clima Suave (a smooth and cool free flowing melodic spirit), Trail of the Sidewinder (a charming and groovy blend of contrasting harmonies coupled with an infectious hump filled with ear candy!) and Prodigal Son (a pulsating groove highlighting the sounds of the Sitar and the Koto based on the Asian pentatonic scale). Up-tempo cuts such as Ya Gotta Respect Ya Self and Goin' Bukyld feature outrageously fresh and funky rhythms.
