Brooklyn-born pianist Richie Beirach became well known through his many recordings under his leadership for ECM, as well as his many collaborations with Dave Liebman in their co-lead group, Quest. Beirach's performances on this trio CD with bassist George Mraz and drummer Billy Hart, range from Beirach originals to John Coltrane to Bela Bartok, reflecting his varied approach to jazz piano - sometimes swinging, sometimes introspective and contemporary.
