Since this recording was released in 1990, Fred Hersch has become one of the most popular piano players in jazz. Hersch's debut recording as a leader is an exceptional tribute to pianist Bill Evans. This ambitious project featured his working rhythm section of bassist Michael Formanek and drummer Jeff Hirshfield, as well as prominent guest stars vibist Gary Burton and harmonica virtuoso Toots Thielemans.
