Jazz
For the great jazz pianist Bill Evans, this is where it all began. Historic mid-fifties recordings made as leader, and with guitarist Dick Garcia, the innovative modern jazz composer George Russell, Chicago torch-singer Lucy Reed and the eclectic clarinetist Tony Scott. The six recordings included here with the George Russell Smalltet are scarce and are some of the most important in jazz to bring real desirability to this set for Evans' accolites. The Dick Garcia and Tony Scott numbers are long out of print and are serious collectables also. "Emergence" will nicely complement the Bill Evans set Five Four released last year with the Gary McFarland Orchestra (Fivefour 3) Bill Evans is a legend: he played piano of the Miles Davis Group that made "Kind Of Blue" and there is no greater jazz pedigree. |
