A veteran of the Downtown New York new music scene, pianist Myra Melford is one of the elite women instrumentalists in jazz today. Her new CD features Cuong Vu - trumpet player in Pat Metheny's group - with guitarist Brandon Ross, bassist Stomu Takeishi, and drummer Elliot Humberto Kavee. The Image of Your Body is Melford's 10th release as a leader, and first on Cryptogramophone. This ensemble, known as Be Bread, is currently on tour in the US. |
