Johnny Thunders - guitar and vocals Billy Rath - base Walter Lure - guitar and vocals Jerry Nolan - drums
The only film available of Thunders in concert is outrageous, funny and poignant. It captures Johnny and the Heartbreakers' raunchy rock'n'roll and New York Doll sleaze, giving an intriguing insight into a legend who has been the epitome of the spirit of rock'n'roll. As well as the Heartbreakers concert (with Jerry Nolan, Walter Lure and Billy Rath) the film is undercut with clips of the Heartbreakers on the UK 'Anarchy' tour of 1976 from Don Letts' 'Punk Rock Movie'; Johnny performing solo in the studio; excerpts of Johnny acting in a French feature film ; plus interview footage. Since Johnny's untimely death in 1991 (sadly followed by Jerry Nolan's death the following year), many diverse rock stars from the Sex Pistols, Guns and Roses, The Clash through to Morrisey and Primal Scream have eulogised him as a prime influence in their careers. |
