Oscar Peterson was arguably the most technically accomplished of all the jazz pianists of the postwar era. He developed a distinctive bop-based method which allowed for constantly evolving improvisations within his established format. This collection focuses largely on perhaps his most creative period in the early 1950s both with his most illustrious trio and also as a soloist, playing a repertoire studded with high quality compositions which he performed flawlessly and seemingly effortlessly.
