| Jazz / Soul-Jazz; Hard Bop
Recorded: May 9, 1962, Cosimo Recording Studios, New Orleans, Louisiana

Cannonball and Nat Adderley had a love affair with New Orleans that drew them to the city as frequently as Cannon could arrange bookings there. In fact, it was not unknown for one or both simply to show up and hang out for a few days, enjoying the people, the music, and the food. In the spring of 1962, however, their visit was with recording in mind. The Adderleys and bassist Sam Jones traveled to the Crescent City for a joyous musical meeting with three leaders of the New Orleans modern jazz movement. They were pianist Ellis Marsalis, who was himself fathering a jazz movement; the remarkable drummer James Black; and Nat Perrilliat, a tenor saxophonist who was greatly admired in New Orleans for his vigor and musicality.
