Professional Dreamer finds pianist/composer David Benoit exploring the urban side of smooth jazz's rhythmic landscape. Collaborating with producer/trumpeter Rick Braun, Benoit has created his freshest sounding recording to date. This dynamic team has co-produced/written several NAC radio hits including "ReJoyce" (written for guitarist Joyce Cooling) and "Miles After Dark" both of which went to # 1 on the charts.
"For me, it has always been important to explore all the boundaries in music and find ways to expand them," says Benoit. "I have all these different sides of myself and my musical background that I want to express. As a pianist, I love to play jazz, both fusion and straight ahead, while as a composer, there's always a need to explore new territories. I'm always trying to take the flavors of all I've done in the past and bring them to a higher level."
