Doulbe Cd from "one of the greatest jazz pianists ever known"
Most of the best musicians make ther mark in one or two areas during their career. The phenomenal Fats Waller had accomplishments in five different roles:
He was one of the most brilliant of all stride pianists. He was jazz's first organist, somehow swinging a pipe organ on record as early as 1926. Waller was a very skilled writter, penning such tunes as "Honeysuckle Rose", "Ain't Misbehavin'","Keeping Out Of Mischief Now" and "Jitterbug Waltz" plus a series of virtuosic piano pieces. In addition, Fats was a superior jazz singer and also one of the most humorous of the comic personalities. During is all too brief life, Walter was able to it all.
The 32 sections on this twofer are enyoyable, giving listeners a strong sampling of the reùmarkable Fats Wallers |
