What to say about the musicians? Tony O'Sullivan, on trumpet is one of the finest players in the New Orleans style, as is Roy Maskell and Terry Giles. Colin Bowden's reputation goes before him. The rhythm section ofAndy Maynard, Chris Satterly and John Sirett with Colin swings like... The band line-up may have altered a little over the years, but the approach is still the same as this collection proves: there's a few jazz standards - even a couple of warhorses - ragtime, spirituals, jazz of the 1920s, jazz of the 1940s revival and one or two surprises. All in all it makes for a varied package with something for everyone. This is a British band playing New Orleans Revival music in the manner of George Lewis/Bunk Johnson and making a first class job of it.
